Day Trip to Monteverde from La Fortuna - Arenal Volcano

If your itinerary is jam packed and you don’t have enough time to stay in Monteverde but you don’t want to miss the opportunity to hike one of the most famous trails in Costa Rica, we offer this day trip from the La Fortuna area to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, Santa Elena and surrounding area.

Enjoy the tropical rainforest and spectacular views of Arenal Volcano, take a ride around the Lake Arenal, and immerse yourself in ancient cloud forests, all in a single day.

• Very early, around 6:00 am, we will pick you up at your hotel to take Route 142 around Lake Arenal.
• We will drive around the lake until we reach Tilarán, continuing on to our destination of the day Santa Elena – Monteverde. Here the landscape changes into Cloud; we leave behind paved roads and enjoy nature in all its splendor. The total trip is approximately three and a half hours and allows us to enjoy beautiful panoramic views.
• Arriving at Monteverde, adventure lovers can choose to take a Canopy Tour (ziplining) to ride long cables through the forest, enjoying views of the treetops, lots of fun, adventure, and adrenaline.
• Nature lovers can have a chill time walking the trails and suspension bridges.
• At the end of this first activity, we will go to the village of Santa Elena to enjoy a delicious lunch.
• The second part of this excursion is a visit and hike at one of the reserves in the area. You’ll be able to enter the real cloud forest, while learning from an expert guide throughout the tour.
• At the end of the hike, we’ll take you back to your hotel in La Fortuna, this time all by road along the Lake Arenal for an approximate duration of three and a half hours.
